The selection of mounting systems for large-scale ground-mounted PV power plants directly affects construction costs, power generation efficiency, and operation and maintenance (O&M) difficulty. Different terrains impose varying requirements on the structure, material, and protective performance of mounting systems, so planning should be carried out based on specific conditions.
In flat and open terrain, fixed mounting systems are the first choice. They feature a simple structure and straightforward installation process. For long-term O&M, zinc-aluminum-magnesium (Zn-Al-Mg) mounting systems can be used in combination to reduce maintenance costs. Meanwhile, in areas with abundant sunlight (annual solar irradiance exceeding 1500 kWh/㎡), some single-axis tracking mounting systems can be adopted as appropriate. However, the cost of single-axis tracking mounting systems is higher than that of fixed ones, so rational configuration should be made according to actual needs.
For desert or Gobi regions, the core of mounting system selection lies in protective performance. The climatic conditions in such areas are relatively harsh: strong sandstorms can easily abrade the surface of mounting systems, and large day-night temperature differences can accelerate material aging. Inadequate protective measures may lead to corrosion and deformation of the mounting systems, thereby affecting the service life of the power plant. Therefore, the thickness of the hot-dip galvanized layer of the mounting systems here should not be less than 100 μm, and the anchor bolts should also be treated with asphalt paint for anti-corrosion to prevent corrosion caused by sand abrasion. These measures ensure the stability of the connection between the mounting systems and the ground, supporting the stable operation of the power plant in harsh environments.
